Our latest camping adventure was to a state park in Texas, Caddo Lake State Park to be exact. Now, one needs to know that Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in the whole state of Texas. I personally find this to be fascinating because Texas is so totally huge! What is even more interesting is that even though the state park carries the name Caddo Lake, it is not actually on the lake. How crazy is that! However, the good news is that one can take a boat ride from the swampy area that the campground is on into the actual lake, no scam there!. Now, when one has to pay for six people to do that one would probably choose to enjoy the swampy marsh lake area that the campground has to offer instead! But, I will say that until our visit there I had never really seen anything quite like that! With its murky water and water lily pads, frogs and milk weed reefs, and tadpoles the size of Texas, it was a new experience for all of us.
